Dear Daddy (Poem)

DEAR DADDY

Dear Daddy, I miss you so much…
Why did they take you away?
Mommy brings ugly men home…
They hurt me.

Dear Daddy, happy birthday…
Did they give you a cake?
Mommy misses you too…
She hit me.

Dear Daddy, I’m scared…
Mommy didn’t come back.
It’s dark and I’m alone…
… Please come back, Daddy.

Dear Daddy, I’m leaving.
The man with the big hammer came…
I’m going to get a new mommy and daddy.
… I love you, Daddy.

Dear Daddy, I’m sad…
My new mommy and daddy don’t like me.
They call you a ‘jailbird’…
… Is that something bad, Daddy?

Dear Daddy, I’m sick…
Everybody looks so sad…
My head is so sore…
… I wish you were here Daddy.

Dear Daddy, goodbye.
A nice man with a Bible came…
I’m going to live with Jesus!
… I wish you were coming too, Daddy.
