Remain In Me

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. (John 15:3-4)

Thoughts for today: 2 May 2020

Within this text Christ shows the importance of being clean before Him. As we meditate on Scripture, our thoughts and hearts are being cleansed and renewed. If we remain constantly within Him, we will remain clean. Here the challenge is to remain steadfastly in Him even in the midst of trials and tribulations. If we dare to react carnally towards others, we lose our peace and our fruit. However, even in the midst of difficulties, if we stay steadfastly rooted within Him, fruit will come. So many times people try to do things on their own. They hurry to work, they hurry for their lunch, they hurry back home. During this lockdown, we have the time to rethink our priorities. We simply can’t bear any fruit without Him. We need to remain in Him.
