Who Are You?

Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” Acts 9:4-6

Thought for today: 19 May 2020

Saul was riding in pride his high horse in ‘God’s service’ to deal with the Christian ‘sect’. In return, after he had fell from his horse, Jesus asked Saul a simple question “why are you persecuting Me?” Jesus knew him by name. Yet Saul, the great intellect did not know the name of the One speaking to him. He thought he was doing the right thing, yet he was fighting against the very One whom he thought he was serving; and thereby was hurting himself. Puffed up in his own cleverness he in effect was putting his finger in the apple of God’s eye, without realizing it. It can so easily happen that one can fight against something because it is not according to one’s own ideas of how things should go. However, as soon as Saul realized his mistake he asked Jesus what He wants him to do. Jesus directed him clearly. His conversion and calling were instantly, from Saul the feared persecutor, to Paul, one of the greatest beloved missionaries of the Christian church. Who are you? Are you a Saul or a Paul?

Have you asked Him what He would have you do for Him today?
