Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mark 4:39-40)

As well known with the sea of Galilee, a moment of peace and tranquility can all of a sudden change into a stormy and raging ocean. Yet it is within these storms of life, where God reveals His power. With three words, He commanded all to be quiet. Maybe today many things may come your way, that you fear that you will be swamped by the turmoil of this life. Yet, if you are on His side, there is no reason to fear. The disciples started of to fear the waves, and ended with trembling before the Creator of the Universe. Just a word from Him is enough to change your stormy waters into peace. There is the saying that ‘skillful sailors learn their skills from stormy oceans’, and ‘one can trust a captain that has braved many storms’. A man of God once said: “don’t be afraid of the waves, ride them, the bigger the better, the farther you can go!”
Stormy times are therefore needed, to nurture our faith and to recognize Him for who He is!
