The Year Of The Lord

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me, To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” (Luke 4:18-19)

Within these verses Jesus reveals Himself in Nazareth within the temple. Right there, where He grew up He proclaimed the good message of liberty and healing. Yet, his own hometown, those close to Him rejected him. They were not filled with thankfulness over the good news, but filled with wrath. Through their physical eyes they saw Him only as human, as one of them. They were in the right place at the right time, but missed their opportunity. Because of the deceitfulness of their own hearts, they missed God’s salvation… May we be rightly tuned in; to understand and grasp the urgency of the hour!
