He Hears

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. (Psalm 130:1-4)

Within this portion lies a spiritual secret. David found himself in great depths of despair, with no one to help, and no way out. However, he had one hope. He lifted up his voice to God, and cried to Him. Doing so, David acknowledges his own iniquities before God. Then he acknowledges God’s own goodness and mercy. David is known as someone after God’s own heart. Could be that you find yourself today in a deep pit of despair as well, with no one to turn to, possibly because of your own wrong choices. However, there is a way out. It is to cry out to the Lord. To acknowledge your own iniquity and then to acknowledge His Son’s atoning sacrifice on the cross. There is no hole to deep where His forgiveness can’t reach, as He paid the ultimate price for the worst of sins. Peter found God’s forgiveness. You could too. Will you draw close to Him today?
