Revive me, O LORD, according to Your lovingkindness. The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endure forever. (Psalm 119:159-160)
Within this Psalm we hear David’s request to God to be revived. Knowing he had nothing within himself to boast of, his only hope is God’s loving-kindness. David knew the truth as read from Scripture, and he knew God to be righteous in his judgement. Yet, in faith he reaches out to God Himself, touching His very nature – His holiness and loving-kindness. It was because of His own holiness and loving-kindness that He sent His only Son to die on a cross for salvation of humankind. For this reason a person can repent and plea like David, “revive me, O LORD”.
