And it shall be said, Heap it up, heap it up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling block out of the way of my people. For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. (Is 57:14-15)
There is a certain stumbling block that makes it difficult for people to meet with God. This great stumbling block, is pride. How difficult for the person who is stuffed with pride. Pride dwells within the fallen nature. It saturates our whole being. It was for this very sin that God’s only Son had to die, and it is the very sin that kicked satan out of Heaven. We too can lose our eternal place with God, when pride is being found within us. Although God dwells in a high and holy place, no pride is found within him. This becomes evident as He reaches out to a broken and lost world. Maybe today you feel overwhelmed by guilt and think you have gone too far away from Him, there is no other option left than to kill yourself. Yet, there is still hope. Hope lies within Christ who died for the sins of the whole world. This includes also your sin. It has been paid for… bring to God all the things that your conscience trouble you with.
