Let no man despise your youth, but be an example of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1 Tim 4:11)
Within these words of Paul to Timothy, he encourages him to go forward in his spiritual race. This was a time of persecution and many seemed to have fallen away. Yet, Paul charges this spiritual son of his, to go forward and lead through his example. That his words will be an example with his conduct sustaining his words. In the verses that follow, Paul also charges Timothy to read and to look into sound doctrine. We can so easily ‘eat’ words of people and not God’s Word, which is the bread of life. Looking into Scripture and meditate upon it often, will build our faith and encourage us in our daily walk. Let us walk with Him!
