CYPSA Joins March Against CRL’s Efforts to Implement State Control of Religion

Thousands of Christians and concerned members of communities from across the country marched in Durban on March 12, 2026, led by the South African Church Defenders (SACD), to protest against the CRL Rights Commission’s attempt to implement state control and regulation of religion in South Africa.

More specifically the CRL’s Section 22 Committee, threatens religious freedom, autonomy and constitutionally protected religious, cultural and freedom of speech rights, as the committee is attempting to implement a system of licensing of religious “practitioners” (pastors, ministers, preachers etc.) and the registration of religious organizations and places of worship.

CYPSA joined the march to show our support for the protection and upholding of the Constitution, and to stand boldly for independence and religious freedom in South Africa.
