For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them… Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” (Ephesians 5:8-11 &14)
There is a choice we need to make within this life; either to befriend the Light or the stay in darkness. To befriend the Light, means that we need to come out of our darkness as we are and be confronted by the Light. As God’s light shines in our lives, our hears and minds we start to see ourselves as we really are. We find that we were not so big, strong and important as we once thought. We see the filth within a thought, we notice the darkness within a wrongful attitude. However, it is as we bring our wrongs and sins (works of darkness) to Christ, and admit what He has shown us and plead for His saving grace, that He cleanses us through His Blood. However, God has nothing to say to the frivolous man who pursues pleasure and remains under the cover of darkness.
