An astonishing and horrible thing Has been committed in the land: The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power: And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end? ( Jer 5:30-31)
Having comfort as an idol:
- For comfort’s sake people can stop their ears from hearing from His servants the message of repentance.
- For comfort’s sake preachers can stop preaching the truth on the need to repent from sin.
- For comfort’s sake people may rule and take decisions by their own authority and power.
- For comfort’s sake some Christians may even love to have it so.
- For comfort’s sake a true work of God may be smeared and rumored.
However, what will such delusions help in the end? When realizing that the messages that had caused discomfort, and had been rejected, had been the truth all the same and that that time for repentance has passed. What will you do in the end?
