And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:31-32)
Within these words of Christ, He called Peter not Peter, but Simon. Peter thought himself strong, yet the Lord knew his weakness, and prayed for him that his faith would not fail. There is a way back to the Master, it is by Peter’s example how he humbled himself and was not willing to leave the brethren. Judas did, and ended up shipwrecked. Peter did not let go, he clung to the brethren to receive help. When Jesus appeared to his disciples, Peter was with them and Christ again drew him to Himself, he returned and now relying on Christ’s strength he could also strengthen his brethren.
