For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made. For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him: I hid myself and was angry, and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. (Is 57:16-18)
Within this text lies a promise. God will not be always angry… He is a God of compassion. Sin angers God, and he punishes sin…. God turn’s his face away from the sinner… yet He is well aware of man’s need for repentance. He made a way. Jesus became the sacrifice for peace. There is a way provided back to God, a way of His restoration and comfort.
