Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matt 5:11-12)
Our human nature is to react against slander and falsehood. In our reaction, we may cause much more harm to the church than the original slander. God sees things in a totally different light. As righteous people are being slandered and vilified, they are gathering in effect a great reward in heaven. Where your reward is, there your heart will also be.
