Who Can Help?

Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. (Matt 27:3-5)

Judas realised his mistake. He felt sorry. Trying to rectify the matter he went to the chief priests and elders. That is what his carnal mind was telling him to do. Surely they could help him. So he thought. However, although in name being called priests, they were overcame by jealousy and Jesus’ enemies. Judas stated to them that Jesus was innocent. He even brought back the money with him. Feeling condemned by God he was looking for help, to rectify the matter. But they were as guilty as he. The words from the priests, left Judas without hope. The things in life that he had clung to, he threw down in the temple and went his way to eternal damnation. He had sought council, but from the wrong group. They had knowledge, but no life within them. Peter on the other hand, returned to those who had life. He went to those who were friends of Jesus for help. They carried him through till he could rectify the matter with Jesus, the eternal great High Priest. Meeting with Jesus at the shores of Galilee, he found forgiveness. Peter found that the Blood of Jesus paid for his guilt. After being renewed, he was commanded to take care of His sheep.
