For the day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, Upon everything lifted up – and it shall be brought low – (Isaiah 2:12)
Thought for today: 20 May 2020
Within this word as voiced by Isaiah, God is dealing with the heart of sinful man. Pride was the sin that caused satan to lose his place in heaven. Pride is something ugly. In essence pride is the worst enemy of everything good. God hates a proud heart. Pride is the worst viper in the Universe. Pride can also be very subtle. It can linger unnoticed within one’s life until the heat is turned on, and all of a sudden it raises its ugly head.
God will always expose and draw forth any pride found within His creation. However, He has an antidote for it. His only Son, even though no pride was found in Him, He bore the punishment for it, by dying on a cross. Because of His sacrifice we can bring our pride to God and ask Him to forgive us and deal with it in our lives. There is the saying that a true child of God, is known by his/her humility. We can only obtain true humility from Him, it is something we can ask Him for.
