What Will You Do In The End?

An astonishing and horrible thing has been committed in the land: The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own power; and My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end? (Jeremiah 5:30-31)

A thought for today: 22 May 2020

These words of God spoken through His prophet Jeremiah is something profound.

In honest truth, Jeremiah faithfully repeats the words God had spoken to him regarding His people. They have done a horrible thing:

  • The prophets have broken with their relationship with the Lord. They speak many words, but not God’s words.
  • The priests judged but according to their own will and decision. They have forgotten that they should judge according to God’s decision and His judgement.
  • The people, God’s people were content with falsehood and pretense, probably because they themselves walked within the comfort of their own falsehood and pretense.

The heart-sore thing about this passage, is that people (the world) started to view God not as Holy and just anymore, and in that way, His name was being vilified.

Are we living the life of Jeremiah? He did not need to act as-if he knew God. God was with him… Is He still with you?

The open question remains; if not “what will you do in the end?”
